Luxembourg has the most expensive overnights for tourists
According to the latest Eurostat survey, the Grand Duchy offers the most expensive accommodation for travellers, with an average price of 175 euros per night. It is the highest rate across the European Union.
EU residents made 1.08 billion overnight trips in 2022. This represents an increase of 23% (202 million) compared to the year 2021. The majority of trips (976 million or 91%) were taken for personal reasons, while the remaining trips were business trips. Both sectors have grown, however, with leisure trips rising by 21% and business trips by 43%.
On average, EU residents spend 87 euros for an overnight stay, which is 30% more expensive than in 2021. Back then, the cost of an overnight stay was only 67 euros. Some of the most expensive nights are in Luxembourg, followed by Austria (154 euros), Estonia (128 euros), Ireland (124 euros) and Malta (123 euros). And for the cheapest accommodation, you can find them in Poland (44 euros), Greece (45 euros) and the Czech Republic (46 euros).
