Community service programmes at sports clubs in Luxembourg resumed
In response to a parliamentary enquiry, MP Fred Keup raised the issue of temporarily halting the publication of proposals for Travaux d'utilité collective (TUC) programmes at sports clubs, which aim to support the professional integration of Revenu d'inclusion sociale (REVIS) recipients.
TUC programmes are organised by the Office national d'inclusion sociale (ONIS) with the support of various non-profit organisations, including sports clubs and federations. These measures help participants to gain useful experience and increase their chances of employment.
At the end of last year, organisational issues arose which temporarily suspended the publication of new bids. However, thanks to a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Sport and stakeholders, the situation was resolved and the call for proposals resumed.
The report emphasises that TUC measures already in place were not interrupted. Moreover, programmes have been extended to support participants where reasonably necessary.
Community service programmes remain an important part of integration and social support policies in Luxembourg, helping REVIS recipients to acquire new skills and return to an active professional life.
