"Bot4Lib" - robots for the library of the future in Luxembourg

GovTech Lab Luxembourg is launching an innovative project to automate the book inventory of the National Library of Luxembourg (BnL). The aim is to solve the problem of long manual inventory, which is resource- and time-consuming. The robot will navigate around the reading room, using computer vision to identify books using visual data, RFID tags and Data Matrix codes.
A particular challenge is the variety of book formats and thin copies without colourful covers. The system will send data to a digital registry where staff can quickly correct errors. Economic operators can apply to participate until 30 January 2025 on the government procurement portal.
