The first week of new technologies in Esch-sur-Alzette (EschTechWeek) promises to be an event not only for IT professionals, but also for the entire city audience. The organisers have prepared a rich programme, from discussion platforms and round tables to video game tournaments and a cosplay festival.
"Asch already has an active tech community, but it is not yet united as a single ecosystem," emphasises Bruno Cavaleiro, the eschewen overseeing the project. The main goal is to create a sustainable technological culture where startups, research centres, businesses and citizens can interact.
Key events include a "Bus Tour" of innovative companies in the region, where participants will be able to see first-hand how local technoprojects work. As well as the Social Media Tribunal, a symbolic event where ethical and societal issues of the digital age will be discussed.
Tech Week does not forget about the youth audience: gamer tournaments, themed costumes, vintage equipment and a retro flea market will create an informal but educational atmosphere. According to the organisers, this is a way to show young people that their passion for technology can turn into a career path.
"Many young people are isolated behind screens and we want to show that technology is not only a personal leisure activity, but also an opportunity to build a professional future," said Kavaleiro.
The first EschTechWeek is conceived as the start of a new long-term tradition that will unite city life with the world of innovation. The first EschTechWeek is intended as the start of a new, long-term tradition that will unite city life with the world of innovation.
