As part of planned road infrastructure renewal works, from Friday 14 November (23:00) to Monday 17 November (04:00) on the A1 motorway towards Luxembourg, the expansion joints on the overpass above the Schaffner roundabout will be replaced.
To minimise inconvenience for motorists on weekdays, all works are scheduled for the weekend. However, traffic disruptions are expected already on Friday evening due to the preparation and change of the road operation scheme.
What's going to change on A1
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
- A speed limit of no more than 70 km/h has been introduced as a safety measure for drivers and road workers.
- Access to the motorway via the Hamm interchange will be completely closed in both directions.
Users who normally enter the A1 via Hamm will be directed via a diversion route: via the N2A, N1A, N1 roads and the Senningerberg junction. Signage and information signs will be installed for convenience.
Despite the restrictions, traffic on the A1 itself will continue to flow, albeit at reduced capacity. Those planning weekend journeys along this section are advised to take into account possible delays and allow extra time.
