Italy roots against the ban on internal combustion engine vehicles

The EU's initiative, which is scheduled to last until 2035, implies a complete phase-out of engines that run on fossil fuels. However, before this task can be accomplished, there are several intermediate stages, including the adoption of new emission standards.

The Italian authorities have already expressed their strong objection to such a reform. The Italian Minister of Transport even called it "suicide". Italy is also concerned about two other regulations: switching to the new Euro-7 standard and further limiting emissions from trucks and buses. Now the country plans to form an alliance with Germany and France in order to slow down the implementation of the bill.

Official sources have already announced that if the EU doesn't listen, Italy will start boycotting and blocking the adoption of these laws until 2024.
